Anti-Asthmatic Effects of Saffron Extract and Salbutamol in an Ovalbumin-Induced Airway Model of Allergic Asthma

چکیده
Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways often characterized by airway remodeling and influx cells into airways. Saffron (C. sativus) has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic immunomodulatory properties. Salbutamol known relax smooth muscles. Objective: To investigate combined anti-asthmatic effect C. sativus extract (CSE) salbutamol in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma rats. Materials methods: Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) was induced male Sprague-Dawley rats OVA challenge treated with CSE (30 mg/kg 60 i.p.) (0.5 p.o) for 28 days. After induction period, various hematological, biochemical, molecular (ELISA) histological analyses were performed. Results: OVA-induced alterations observed hematological parameters (total differential cell counts Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid (BALF) significantly attenuated (p < 0.01) mg/kg) mg/kg). The treatment combination also decreased levels total protein albumin serum, BALF lung tissues. Treatment increase Th2 cytokine (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-13). Histopathological analysis tissue showed that ameliorated ultrastructural aberrations. Conclusion: results obtained from this study show exhibited properties via its anti-inflammatory alleviating mediated immune response. Thus, could be considered as new therapeutic strategy management asthma.

Tanshinone IIA attenuates ovalbumin-induced airway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness in a murine model of asthma
Objective(s): Tanshinone IIA (T. IIA), one of the most pharmacologically active components extracted from Salviae miltiorrhiza, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant features. The aim of the present study is to investigate the benefit of T. IIA on asthma using a murine model of asthma induced by ovalbumin (OVA). Materials and Methods: Male BALB/c mice were used in the present study. The mice we...
متن کاملSappanone A Attenuates Allergic Airway Inflammation in Ovalbumin-Induced Asthma.
BACKGROUND Sappanone A (SA) is isolated from the heartwood of Caesalpinia sappan and exerts a wide range of pharmacological activities. In the present study, we investigated the protective effects of SA on allergic asthma in a murine model of ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma. METHODS BALB/c mice were sensitized and challenged. Then, the mice were intraperitoneally injected with SA (12.5, 25 and...
متن کاملThe effects of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells on ovalbumin-induced allergic asthma and cytokine responses in mice
Objective(s): Allergic Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the lungs that is characterized by increased infiltration of leukocytes into the airways, limiting the respiratory function. Studies suggest that a defective general regulatory system against inflammation could be a significant factor in allergic asthma. It has been shown that Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have a cellular immunosuppres...
متن کاملSaponin-enriched extract of Asparagus cochinchinensis alleviates airway inflammation and remodeling in ovalbumin-induced asthma model
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by T-lymphocyte and eosinophil infiltration, mucus overproduction and airway hyper-responsiveness. The present study examined the therapeutic effects and action mechanism of a saponin-enriched extract of Asparagus cochinchinensis (SEAC) on airway inflammation and remodeling in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma model. To accomplish this, alt...
